Xplicity has been a core contributor to the creation of the Login AM software product: a solution that automates the creation and updating of master images. Login has been in charge of core project management processes throughout this collaboration.
THE PROBLEM
The Dutch-American virtual desktop solutions development company Login VSI was looking for software solution, that automates the deployment and management of large Windows infrastructures. In other words, it had to help IT administrators to automate deployment and maintenance of large server farms and apply changes with the highest possible quality.
For example, in a big company with huge number of employees, each department is using different software. In order to make some changes or installations, IT administrator had to go to each PC physically and make adjustments. That required lots of time.
PRODUCT GOALS
Automation Machine (AM) main goals were to:
- Facilitate new features’ implementation in the future.
- Enable the IT administrator to create software collections for each user role (managers, designers, etc.) and install them remotely to each computer in few clicks.
- Reduce errors to a minimum.
- Improve the overall user experience.
- Ensure feature consistency between Login products and allow switching features between their solutions.
THE PROCESS
Xplicity and Login VSI agreed on using .NET Classic and Core, C#, WPF, SOLID and other technologies to enhance client’s core engine and create seamless features for Automation Machine.
To ensure the success of this collaboration, Login VSI and Xplicity have shaped a very professional team using Scrum/Agile methods to manage the project. Team applied constant 2 week sprints combined with pair programming. A process roadmap and convenient milestone deadlines ensured that the highest quality standards were met. In order to set a very good project architecture, both: Login VSI and XPlicity teams often traveled to each other’s offices and collaborated on rectifying the idea.
THE RESULT
The implemented solution allows IT administrators to automate, maintain and deploy virtual environments with the highest quality possible result. Deploying change is also being made in a consistent and quick way. Solution simplifies many processes and saves lots of time.
